My memory of bar soaps are being scrubbed head to toe in the bath as a toddler when you've got bogeys stuck all over your face and mud up the back of your legs from jumping in puddles. Growing up I've been fond of using shower gels and hand gels with amazing scents and designs being released left, right and centre, yet bar soaps seem to be on the rise as the population is turning into eco fanatics; even McDonalds have gotten rid of the plastic straws knowing full well the fuss it would cause so it must be getting bad!

There are many benefits of using bar soaps such as them being able to lather up well allowing the soap to spread easily and attach itself to the dirt and oil, this is due to the ingredients being stronger in bar soaps than in liquid form which allows them to remove makeup, oil, dirt and other impurities quick and easy from the skin itself.
However, due to the strength of the ingredients within bar soaps, using these products can lead to removing too much oil from the skin, stripping away its moisture barrier and leading to dryness. Leading on from this, this may cause irritation to sensitive skin and further aggravate certain preexisting skin conditions which I'm sure we'd all to keep at bay.

When thinking of bar soaps, the first brand that comes to mind for me is Lush, they are one of the largest cosmetic retailers in the world with the brand vision of using natural ingredients, testing on human volunteers rather than animals and also the use of naked packaging. They are renowned for their creative and amazing ideas when it comes to cosmetics, they have their own full range of bar soaps for many different uses.
The Sleepy Bar Soap £5
One of their best sellers at the moment is a Liverpool Store exclusive which is the 'Sleepy' bar soap. Containing lavender and oat milk, it gently lathers the skin whilst releasing the soothing, calming smell of lavender and also containing kaolin clay means it cleanses and buffs the skin without that rough feeling.
"When you're feeling a little under the weather, float off to dreamland on this lavender cloud."
The Petal Head Shampoo Bar £7
Another amazing piece of work that they have released is their 'Petal Head' pressed dry shampoo bar, this new product allows people to rub the product between their hands and apply the dry powder to the roots which will then be brushed out of the hair and styled as usual. This bar allows people to use dry ingredients to achieve the rich moisture their hair desires without using spray-on dry shampoos or having to jump in the shower in a rush (sounds perfect for me, my parents will vouch for that).
Offer your hair an oasis of moisture while still keeping things matte with absorbent cornflour and hydrating organic avocado oil.
The Comforter Bath Bubble Bar £5.95
Before being bombarded by lush gift sets for Christmas, I had never heard of a bubble bar until I used 'The Comforter' bubble bar, this has changed my views completely on buying the typical Radox or Imperial Leather bubble bath/soak, bath time is the luxury end to my week. Containing cassis, bergamot oil and cypress oil, bath time smells of blackcurrant heaven whilst soaking the body under a shade of pink foam, depending on how long you keep the bar under the flowing tap water, these bars can last a while (don't do what I did the first time I used it and be mesmerised by the colour flowing as you use a whole expensive bar in one bath).
It smells so delicious that I want to eat it - but don’t, I’ve tried, it doesn’t taste how it smells unfortunately.
Whilst writing this article and researching about the variety of bar soaps out there that are actually available and affordable, I may just have to try a few to replace my plastic-bottled cosmetics, we'll see how it goes!
