I've seen many American makeup brands make their mark on the world from afar and have been so jealous that they haven't yet made the leap to reach the UK market until now. So far this year we have seen Fenty Beauty and also CeraVe become exclusive to Boots, but we're all still waiting for Sephora to get the hint and open up over here! The brand Milk Makeup made the choice to come to the UK earlier this year in January and ever since then they've been a massive hit across the nation.

Milk Makeup are an American brand that specialise in vegan and cruelty free cosmetics that are now finally available to the UK (no more ordering online and paying £10 just to get it across the sea). They've only been around for 3 years since being launched in New York City in 2016, yet the brand has built a large cult following with it's passion for mission and values being that they only use ingredients that are paraben-free, vegan and cruelty-free and they no longer use any animal-derived ingredients.
"We see personal style and experimentation as the ultimate forms of self-expression. It’s not just about how you create your look; it’s what you do in it that matters."
While specialising in cruelty-free makeup and skincare, the brand have brought out many products that have attracted a large audience, especially with their unique design of using the 'chub stick' style to save time and mess when applying the product itself.
Hydro Grip Primer £27

One of their recent products is the 'Hydro Grip Primer', which they also offer in a mini version for on-the-go application. This primer is part of their Kush Collection, containing hemp-derived cannabis seed extract which hydrates to plump and smooth your skin. The product has received so many positive reviews from influencers and everyday makeup wearers themselves, especially for the fact that it keeps your makeup in place the whole day, this is due to the blue agave extract within the formula as it forms an invisible layer to grip makeup.
In self-assessments of 15 individuals using the product in a 12-hour period: -100% of subjects agree skin feels more hydrated. -100% of subjects agree skin has a healthy-looking glow. -100% of subjects agree makeup lasted longer.
Blur Liquid Matte Foundation £34

The 'Blur Liquid Matte Foundation' has to be one of the most well-known cosmetics created by Milk Makeup as it has been featured by so many fashion magazines and is sworn to be one of the best matte foundations out there in the makeup industry. With 24 shades available, this lightweight yet full-coverage foundation has catered to many skin tones whilst also taking care of the variety of undertones people have within their complexion.
"Blurs pores and fine lines instantly with blurring microspheres, powder-filled spheres that diffuse the light and leave a smooooth, matte finish."
Lip + Cheek £20.50

The 'Lip + Cheek' chub stick is the most talked-about item that Milk makeup offer that I've heard the most talk on, by offering a duo stick, the world has gone cuckoo over the idea of a 2-in-1. With offering a range of 5 shades, there's a shade that everyone will love, ranging from subtle peachy tones to deep berry shades, not to mention with a good build-up of product you can create wild, vibrant look! With the ingredients of the stick containing mango butter, peach nectar and avocado oil, these provide instant hydrating benefits and help colour blend seamlessly into skin.
"This stuff is just so easy and pretty. Two dots on cheeks, blend with fingers, dot on lips and go!"
Kush High Volume Mascara £20.50

The 'Kush High Volume Mascara' is also part of their Kush Collection, containing plant-derived oil fuses fibres to the lashes for thickness without fallout, the hydrating formula also fills the hollow fibres for a double dose of volume. One of the most regular comments made is the quality of the brush bristles used within the mascara wand itself. By having a tapered, tree-shaped brush with criss-cross bristles, it coats and lifts every lash from root to tip for a defined, clump-free effect.
"Kush Mascara gives lashes an instant volume boost, making my eyes bright. I did need to top it up throughout the day, as it does flake ever so slightly on my eyes." - Anna Heaton
Being a regular Milk Makeup purchaser myself, I have used many of these products over the years and have always found that with their products I can create vibrant, colourful looks yet when needed, I can also create a more natural, lightweight look. My favourite product by far is their 'Lip + Cheek' chub stick as it allows me to create subtle, everyday looks when in a rush to the office, just a few dabs gives my face a lift (I no longer walk into the office looking like a zombie on the daily).
